Schiopetto, Friuli

A brilliant producer, Schiopetto is the reference point for just how flavourful, perfumed and compelling dry whites from Friuli can be’.  An excerpt from Robert Parker’s review in The Wine Advocate sums up what Azienda Agricola Schiopetto has to offer.

This is one of the oldest wine estates in the Collio area.  The Schiopetto family has been in the wine business for the three generations. Giorgio Schiopetto, who owned Ai Pompieri, a famous old inn in Udine, passed on to his son Mario his love of good wines, which was to bring him renown as the founding father of modern wine-making in the Friuli Region. In the rolling hills in Capriva del Friuli, in the province of Gorzia, Mario Schiopetto has been making wine since 1965 and his children Maria Angela, Carlo and Giorgio are delighted to carry on the family tradition.

The Schiopetto family makes both red and white wines with the typical features of Friulian wines.  By respecting nature without altering the fruit and by using modern technology to achieve the best results, Azienda Agricola Mario Schiopetto conveys through its excellent wines the various expressions of the region.
