Marc Kent has had a stellar career and has built up an international reputation as one of South Africa's greatest wine makers. Based in Franschoek, the estate's name has gained cult status because of the balanced, fruit driven wines that reflect the varieties used as much as the soil they come from. His small batch production ideology and passionate wine making, coupled to an extrovert character and a penchant for loud shirts have created a demand for his wine that is the envy of his contemporaries.
The estate's Porcupine Ridge wines are for early drinking and share more than a passing resemblance to the flagship wines. Chocolate Block has carved out a niche for itself and still provides that deep, complex character and an enormous sense of fun that runs like a seam throughout the estate.
