The Marchand estate has been in existence for over seven generations in Morey-St-Denis. In 1983 it was extended with the purchase of an old winegrower's house right in the heart of Gevrey-Chambertin. The present building was erected in the 18th century above a cellar in which the owner used to mature the wines he produced. The estate includes vineyards located in the villate of Chambolle-Musigny, Morey-Saint-Denis, Gevrey-Chambertin featuring some first growths such as Les Sentiers at Chambolle, Le Clos des Ormes at Morey, Les Combottes at Gevrey, as well as great growths: Clos de la Roche at Morey, Griottes Chambertin and Charmes Chambertin at Gevrey. In 1999 the Domaine was been taken over by Denis Marchand, the current proprietor.
The grapes are harvested by hand and then laid to ferment in stainless steel vats before being aged for 15 to 18 months in oak barrels (with a proportion of new barrels, depending on the appellations). The wines show a true core of Burgundian finesse and purity, whilst bearing the individual characteristics of the vineyards from which they came.

The brooding nose of black fruit and liquorice and some oak and savoury notes betray the power of this wine. The structure has ripe, grippy tannins and a concentrated core of fruit balanced with good acidity and mid palate definition
A heady mix of sweet spice and red currant, cherry and strawberry with a hint of citrus peel too. The palate is soft, almost silky with well integrated oak followed by a long mellow finish.
