Krone

Twee Jonge Gezellen, the estate that produces Krone, has been 'in the family' since 1710 and has always been synonymous with expressions such as pioneering, ground-breaking, especially impressive when you consider TJ is the oldest family farm in the pioneer district of Tulbagh and the second oldest family-owned wine estate in South Africa. Translated, it means Two Young Bachelors or Two Young Companions.

House of Krone was devised as a way of highlighting winemaker Nicky Krone's work for the estate and to differentiate the Methode Cap Classique wines that are produced by the estate. The wines are considered to be benchmark South African sparkling wines by John Platter and reflect the care and attention that has been put into their production at every step.

It should be noted that the fruit is harvested in the early hours of the morning by hand, only free run juice is used to make these wines and all remuage and disgorging happens by hand in the cellars.

2002 Krone Borealis, Methode Cap Classique

A blend of 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir, Borealis is elegant and classic with a biscuity bouquet, wit yeasty less-creaminess showing fine, persistent bubbles.

2000/1 Krone Brut Rosée, Methode Cap Classique

Sassy, refreshing and uplifting with delicate berry fruits; and a finesse found only in wines that have had time to evolve and mature in the correct surroundings.
