Domaine Georges Burrier

For those in the know, Frédéric Burrier will be a name that is both familiar and highly respected. He is the owner of the fabulous oenthèque in Fuissé, gastronome extraordinaire, and the most passionate exponent of the wines of Fuissé one could hope to find; which is not surprising considering his family backgroun. For those not in the know, Frédéric is a scion of one of the most famous producers in the region and he has created this domaine which once again brings alive the name of his grandfather. The estate is tiny, producing just 50,000 bottles in total and utilising some of the most expressive and rare crus in the village.

2006 St Véran

A very fine example of this appellation, showing power and complexity, along with a chalky minerality that is the hallmark of the northern end of the appellation. 30% of the wine has been aged in 2 year old barriques.

2006 Pouilly-Fuissé

The nose shows herbaceous notes, hazelnut and rich, spicy honeyed characters. The palate is powerful but never over-powering, and the acidity is that of grapefruit with delicious fruit weight to create a perfect balance length and finish. 50% of the wine is aged in oak the rest in steel tank.

2006 Pouilly-Fuissé 'La Côte'

The 'La Côte' vineyard is at the top of the vineyard area in the sub region of Fuissé, therefore the temperature is cooler and the wines tend to have more finesse then the more powerful lower slopes. This wine is aged in first and second year barriques, yet the wood is already well integrated with the delicious zesty note, underlying honeyed complexity and the opulent yet perfectly balanced palate.
