Beppe CaViola has been surrounded by vines for most of his life. His Grandfather, who he is named after, cultivated two vineyards of Dolcetto, as well as being a highly regarded butcher. Beppe junior would visit his Grandfather, and the seeds of the man today were planted. Having studied in the oenological school in Alba, he worked in an oenological laboratory in Gallo, under Carlo Drocco, and as a result discovered and inert latent talent for the analysis of wine. It is this skill that now enables him to consult at some of the most prestigious estates in Italy.
After meeting Elio Altare and Angelo Gaja, the young Caviola had an epiphany. His first vintage of his own fruit gave him the desire, but these new friends and mentors gave him the inspiration, and this passion for the 'Terroir' and fruit expression became his ethos. Now, from his own vineyards in Montelupo and estate based around the new facility in Dogliani, Beppe and his wife Simonetta produce wines that derive straight from the heart, and although he still consults across Italy, it is here where the passion is bottled.
Vilot is a pure expression of Dolcetto, showing elegant black fruit and typically lively tannins followed by a succulent finish
Perfumed and complex, showing an extra dimension to Vilot, with slightly softer structure and longer finish
Soft, ripe cherry fruit and hints of tea and spice complement the racy acidity and four square structure of the palate.
10% Nebbiolo added to Barbera and barrique aged for 12 months. Dark fruit, liquorice dried citrus and spice are all tightly packed into a youthful structure with excellent balance.
A blend of Pinot Nero, Barbera, Nebbiolo, and Cabernet and devised as a wine that extracts the terroir of Barolo, using young Nebbiolo vines as a backbone, with the view that this will become a Barolo in time. It is intense, polished and terrifically complex, showing the skills of Beppe in sharp relief
